1 AS THE SUN RISES IN THE EAST……………
We are now back to work after having two summer months off. September looks to be another busy month though as we have two first degree’s and two third degree’s in the early part of the month. Officer’s are to check their calendar’s and prepare themselves accordingly.
I would like to thank the Officers of the lodge and those brethren who have continually attended the degrees for their support and dedication. Specially those who have voluntarily stepped in and assisted in various phases of the degree work.
Congratulations to Bro. John Gaspar, on being raised to the degree of Master Mason, Bros. Trujillo for being passed to the degree of Fellowcraft, Bro. Michaelis for being initiated an Entered Apprentice Mason. Also we would like to congratulate Bro. Hancock for demonstrating his proficiency in the Third Degree.
Bro. Robert Barrett, our Chaplain, will be honored on September 9th as Mason of the Year for 2010. This is a well deserved honor as Bro. Barrett has continually lent his support to the lodge since 2005 when he was raised a Master Mason. Besides being our Chaplain, Bro. Barrett is also High Priest in Royal Arch, Recorder for Cryptic Masons, Senior Warden in Knights Templar, Seneschal in York Rite College and Junior Deacon for the Allied Masonic Degrees. Congratulations for your dedication, hard work and continual support. For those wishing to attend the Mason of the Year dinner, please call the Santa Rosa Scottish Rite Temple, 707-539-6355. Dinner is $35.00 per person. Reservation is required.
Sept 22nd is the Hall Association Board Meeting. All master masons are welcome to attend. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and generally lasts around 30 minutes.
2 AS THE SUN IS IN THE WEST………..
Remember brothers, we will be at advance stations when we begin our degree sessions again in September. All officers are asked to contact the lodge office to confirm your intentions for the forthcoming Masonic year prior to the stated meeting in September.
If positions are available, suitable assistance will be furnished you. " It’s amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit." - Harry S Truman
The next Masonic year will offer many challenging aspects, we have a lot to follow up on; the child I.D. program, Prince Hall visitation, education recognition (wouldn't it be nice to offer scholarships?), DeMolay support, 4th of July parade, American Cancer Society relay for life, . . . I may have forgotten some. Doubtlessly we will find more worthwhile things to benefit both ourselves and our community - any ideas? Dust off those tuxedos, degrees start again in September. Have a fun and safe labor day week-end.
3 AS THE SUN AT MERIDIAN HEIGHT………….
Our Junior Warden is preparing Teriyaki-Chicken, Rice Pilaf, Mixed Vegatables, Rolls and Desert for our lodge dinner on September 13th. The price per person is $12.00. Payable at the door. Invite the family, friends, new candidates, and neighbors. Dinner will start promptly at 6:30 p.m.
He is also asking brethren who have a few extra minutes to come to the lodge at 4:30 p.m. to help set up the tables and prepare the kitchen, i.e. gas and dishwasher, for Tuesday’s dinner.
Roof Fund Any brother wishing to support our fund can do so by sending a check to the Fairfield-Suisun Lodge No. 55 with a note for it to be deposited into the roofing fund account.
Presently we have $2,635.00 in the account. A big thank you to Bros. Raymond Walker and Eugene Lightfoot for their gracious and thoughtful donation.
DUES: Dues for 2012 are being accepted. Those brethren in arrears for 12 months will be suspended unless sickness, or inability to pay is shown. Please check your dues card. Those not sure of their status can call the lodge at 707-425-3175.
